Loved this Claire. The line about the cocktail! 💜✨ 🍸
I’ve had a newsletter since 2017 and the growth I’m most interested in right here and now is depth.
Depth of connection, depth of inspiration, of creativity and most of all the will around influencing more people to create, write and make the world better with their art. 🪄✨✉️
Thank you Claire! I'm chinking my cocktail glass with yours and celebrating your definition of what growth is to you right here and now 💜 🍸 It's a beautiful, inspiring one. Here's to us each honouring our own unfolding, living, breathing versions of growth and expansion and expression and impact ✨
I know this is an older letter, but I had to comment! Some larger species of bamboo can take a few years to get their root system down, and then when they sprout up they do so very rapidly. Someone once told me that when I was very impatient to see some changes in my music life. Well, in all fairness, I'm a LOT slower than a bamboo in laying my root system down, evidently, but the principle still applies, and I like the metaphor 😁
Thanks for sharing this Demian :) I love this metaphor too haven't been reminded of it for years :) So many wonderful metaphors to be found in nature. I also take great comfort every time I look at the big, ancient oak outside my office building window. It is there always. It grows slowly. It knows it's existence is enough. Deep breath x
Thanks Karen...I'll take that hypothesis and throw it in the cauldron :) Yes - it is an enigma. I have another email list of subscribers for my coaching work that grew at a much faster pace, but my sense is that growth was mainly based on people getting something practical in return for being there. E.g. free workshops, practical how to guides etc. I enjoyed that process at the time, and it served a particular purpose for them and me. And this place here is consciously set up not to be a place of practical assistance, but creative expression, so numerical growth is certainly less predictable. I can definitely feel the personal growth in spades, on another level than I did over there. Appreciate you being here :)

Claire- I get it. The key to growing a following and a newsletter is an enigma. Maybe slow numerical growth leads to greater personal growth?

Hooray to not giving a f*ck about growth by numbers! (It’s not how real, natural, growth works anyway, like you said.)
You are a sparkling role model of living life as one’s true authentic self. Thank you for sharing your reflections - and keep going, sister! 😍
Hooray indeed! And thank you for this beautiful acknowledgement Valerie. I so appreciate your friendship and company along the way. Sending love x 😍
